"[ Durban, 19 October 2017] Dunlop South Africa wishes to issue a warning against scams promising employment with the company."

This comes after an individual posing as a Dunlop recruiter has been getting in touch with vulnerable job seekers with the aim of extorting money from them.

“We would like to state on record that these employment offers have not been issued by the company and advise the public to refrain from responding to such offers or paying any money if requested, said Riaz Haffejee, CEO Sumitomo Rubber South Africa (SRSA).

“We do not hire individuals under the Dunlop name as this is a brand within SRSA stable. All employment is done under the corporate company name being Sumitomo Rubber South Africa (SRSA).

SRSA has escalated the matter to the South African Police Service and opened a case against the individual running this scam. Dunlop and SRSA does not under any circumstances require payment from job applicants and only advertises vacancies via the official online career portal on its website or via reputable employment agencies. All due diligence is followed by the company’s human resources department when positions are advertised.

SRSA encourages job seekers to be wary of such activities, and recommends that they do not disclose any personal or financial information to any parties requesting such detail. Should you be aware of such activities, please report it to Ziphokuhle Danisa, Group Manager Security and Risk, contactable on 031 242 1468 or ziphokuhle.danisa@srigroup.co.za.
