DUNLOP “SP SPORT MAXX 055” SELECTED AS FACTORY STANDARD TYRES FOR THE NEW TOYOTA CROWN

Thursday, 22 September 2022

"Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. is pleased to announce that we have begun supplying our high-performance DUNLOP “SP SPORT MAXX 055” tyres to Toyota Motor Corporation for use as factory standard tyres on their latest Crown, which launched this September. "

Designed around the concept of “The Flagship of Your Imagination,” the latest Crown lineup is available in four different variations, expanding on the classic Sedan model with the addition of three new vehicle grades: Crossover, Estate and Sport. The brand-new Crown model combines Sedan with SUV to inaugurate a whole-new style of vehicle. With a novel design that eschews preconceived notions, major advancements in driving performance, a new lifted up silhouette and more, the Crown is a “Flagship Vehicle” that embodies the spirit of “Innovation & Challenge.”

Developed specifically for fitment on the Crown, our DUNLOP “SP SPORT MAXX 055” tyres were designed to contribute to the advanced driving performance and sophisticated design of the latest entry in the Crown Series. As one of the key design themes of the latest Crown is its lift-up sedan style, we developed these tyres in a new larger size (21”) to complement the vehicle design. We also adopted a new tyre profile that presents a more angular blocky façade in order to make these larger tyres stand out even more while working closely with Toyota Motor Corporation to adjust for noise and other side effects of such a bold profile. These efforts culminated in the development of a tyre that strikes a perfect balance between form and function.

In addition, DUNLOP “SP SPORT MAXX 055” also features a higher degree of circularity compared to conventional tyres while adopting a newly developed tread pattern that optimizes tyre rigidity in order to further contribute to the advanced driving performance of the new Toyota Crown.
