Sumitomo Rubber South Africa - committed to the Dunlop brand

"Long association with the Dunlop brand"

Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI), the Japanese tyre manufacturing giant, which announced the formation of Sumitomo Rubber South Africa (Pty) Ltd on 01st November 2013, following the acquisition of the former Apollo Tyres South Africa (ATSA) from Indian-owned tyre manufacturer, Apollo Tyres Limited (ATL), is confident that this business development will serve to strengthen the Dunlop brand and the Dunlop Zone programme in South Africa and the African continent.

SRI has a long relationship with the Dunlop brand having its first association in 1909 when the Sumitomo Group made an investment in Dunlop Japan, which was the newly formed subsidiary of the British company – Dunlop Rubber. Since then, SRI and the Dunlop brand have gone from strength to strength. Today, the company produces tyres in passenger, construction, agricultural, race and rally and motorcycle applications and is an industry leader in the field of Original Equipment.
